New scare tactic highlights gravity of the ‘climate crisis’

Our oil-burning, bovine flatulence-induced plunge toward the sun begins:

I’m not sure “we need to do something about climate change or we’ll all weigh a little less” will be an effective scare tactic, but we’ll see:

Gravity — yes, gravity — is the latest victim of climate change in Antarctica. That’s the stunning conclusion announced Friday by the European Space Agency.

“The loss of ice from West Antarctica between 2009 and 2012 caused a dip in the gravity field over the region,” writes the ESA, whose GOCE satellite measured the change. Apparently, melting billions of tons of ice year after year has implications that would make even Isaac Newton blanch.
[...]
The biggest implication is the new measurements confirm global warming is changing the Antarctic in fundamental ways. Earlier this year, a separate team of scientists announced that major West Antarctic glaciers have begun an “unstoppable” “collapse,” committing global sea levels to a rise of several meters over the next few hundred years.

Maybe the next Antarctic expedition studying the dramatic ice loss can report the latest findings after they’re inevitably rescued from being trapped in the ice that isn’t there anymore.

Hopefully this will help bring gravity back to normal:

There are other theories though that are precisely the opposite:

Criminal complaint against accused intruder says that on being apprehended he said he came to warn the pres the atmosphere was collapsing.

State Dept’s Marie Harf: Hey, the spread of ISIS surprised even ISIS

As the rest of the hapless world continues to fail to live up to Barack Obama’s 2008 and 2012 campaign promises, the president has said that the intelligence community misjudged the ISIS threat, which of course forced Obama to dismiss the terrorist organization as a JV team.

The State Department’s Marie Harf said today that the spread of ISIS caught everybody by surprise… even ISIS.

Video via Noah Rothman at Hot Air, partial transcript via me:

Blitzer: I guess what the president said on 60 Minutes that the intelligence community basically got it wrong. The intelligence community, at least elements there, they’re coming back and saying for at least a year they were warning that ISIS was on the move, getting stronger, gaining territory. They don’t think they necessarily got it wrong.

Harf: What the president said was for a long time we’ve known about the serious threat from ISIL. But I think everyone — us, the Iraqis, even ISIL itself probably — was surprised by how quickly earlier this summer they were really able to take territory in Iraq. They moved more quickly than anyone could have imagined.

The Three Stooges called, and they want their foreign policy back.

Moral of the story: ISIS really needs to work on their intelligence gathering capabilities so they understand their limitations and stop making the current administration look so JV.
